Dan served for 18 years in the New South Wales Police Force and holds a Bachelor of Science (Forensic Science). He commenced his career as a crime scene examiner before progressing to specialist criminal investigation roles investigating serious and complex matters, including fraud, sexual offences, serious assaults, organised crime and homicide.

Dan spent six years with the NSW Police Child Abuse Squad, predominantly as a Detective Sergeant, leading investigations into serious offences against children and coordinating multidisciplinary responses with agencies including the Department of Education, the Department of Communities and Justice, and NSW Health. He prepared briefs of evidence for matters heard in the Supreme Court of New South Wales and conducted detailed risk assessments in matters involving early childhood education and care settings.

In the later stages of his policing career, Dan performed duties as a Detective Inspector in management and strategic coordination roles, overseeing large investigative teams and multi-agency review functions during a period of significant organisational change.

At Riskwise Consulting, Dan applies this experience to complex regulatory investigations in high-risk and highly regulated environments, providing clear, defensible findings and practical risk-management advice aligned with governance and regulatory expectations.
