We conduct Practice Reviews in line with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission’s Practice Review Framework, offering NDIS providers an independent, structured, proactive approach to strengthen compliance, support informed decision-making, improve service quality, and enhance participant safety and experience.
What is a Practice Review?
A Practice Review is a reflective process that examines how NDIS providers engage with participants, identifying ways to enhance service quality, the provision of supports, and participant outcomes.
"For the disability sector, practice reviews are a way to bring a professional lens to disability support work. Within the context of the NDIS Quality and Safeguarding Framework, and its developmental and preventative domains, practice reviews contribute to safeguarding, and improving the standard of support provided to, people with disability"
Our Aim: To understand factors contributing to peoples’ experience of supports and services, with a focus on learning, reflection, and continuous improvement.
Why Independence Matters
Independent external practice reviews, like those conducted by Riskwise Consulting, foster greater trust, encouraging participants, families, and staff to share honest feedback without fear of bias or repercussions. This objectivity, combined with specialised expertise, helps identify critical insights and systemic issues that may be overlooked in internal reviews.
When NDIS Providers Engage Us for Practice Reviews
✔️ Concerns about underreporting
✔️ Negative feedback from participants or families about service quality
✔️ Participants withdrawing from services or expressing dissatisfaction
✔️ A pattern of near misses or repeated safety concerns
✔️ Unexplained or increased number of injuries among participants
✔️ Staff not recognising or reporting issues
✔️ Environmental risk indicators emerge
✔️ Changes in participant needs, such as increased behavioural concerns
✔️ An investigation identifies systemic failures
The Benefits of Practice Reviews
For Participants: They improve support and engagement, identify ways to better meet individual needs, and ensure safe, purposeful environments that promote positive, person-centred outcomes.
For Frontline Workers: Practice reviews help strengthen skills and knowledge, enhance day-to-day practice, and improve workplace safety through the proactive identification of potential risks.
For Senior Managers, CEOs, and Boards: They provide insights into governance gaps, support the development of preventative strategies, and promote a strong, positive workplace culture. Practice reviews also demonstrate a clear commitment to identifying, managing, and eliminating poor practices while reducing the risk of recurring issues.
At Riskwise Consulting, we conduct Practice Reviews in line with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission’s Practice Review Framework, helping providers strengthen compliance, service quality, and participant safety.
Our structured approach includes:
✅ Identifying key risks
✅ Data interrogation & compliance analysis
✅ Engaging participants, frontline workers & families
✅ Evaluating leadership, supervision & workplace culture
✅ Benchmarking & good practice research
✅ Action planning & reporting
It is important to highlight that practice reviews do not replace or duplicate reportable incident obligations and incident management system requirements for registered NDIS providers. They are a complementary process that focuses on understanding the broader factors influencing service delivery, identifying systemic issues, and driving continuous improvement beyond individual incidents.
